Choose the buying stage

State whether the conversation is feasibility, RFQ, sampling, quotation review, order preparation or repeat. Identify the decision you need from the reply. Different stages have different gaps, and a concise relevant enquiry is easier to answer than an indiscriminate document request.

Start with material scope

Ask which programme can address the garment use and reference. For a direction outside Fred's public wool and wool-blend woven focus, ask feasibility without assuming supply. Request any alternative's actual differences and reference.

Clarify technical identity

Ask for composition, construction, finish, weight unit, width basis and current specification under one item ID. Identify unresolved fields. If the reply concerns another sample version, ask for the correct relationship before treating it as applicable evidence.

Ask commercial questions separately

State total and colour quantities and request the applicable style and colour conditions, price basis, inclusions, validity and schedule start. Fred's public 500 metres per style needs programme confirmation. Do not transform it into a confirmed per-colour rule.

Plan sampling and decisions

Ask which sample form can answer the next question, what it costs and what work is required. Clarify version and approval scope. Keep unperformed trials open and name who will review actual appearance, making or evidence matters.

Request relevant files

Ask only for the documents needed for the current requirement and explain why. Request scope and applicability, not merely a collection of logos. Do not use answers to calculate a trust score; assess the actual evidence and clarified offer through your buying process.

Your editable question bank

Example only: a reference-led enquiry selects feasibility, item specification and candidate-sampling questions, leaving order questions for later. Copy relevant lines below, add project IDs and delete anything already answered by a current applicable reply. Then review and send in your chosen application.
